George Pincock of Carson City ran a leg for the University of Colorado team that placed sixth in the men's 4x100 relay on Friday during the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento.
The men's 4x100-meter finished with a time of 39.98 seconds, becoming the first relay team to compete in the national finals since 1972. The mark was the fifth fastest in school history. Florida State won the race in 38.60.
Pincock is a 2003 graduate of Carson High School, where he was a track and football standout. He joined the Colorado program as a walk-on after his graduation from Carson.
"It was a great race for them late in the season," assistant sprints coach Brandon Couts told cubuffs.com. "They have been nicked up all year and they came out and ran the way they have been running all year. It was a nice race against some really good competition.
"They finished in sixth, which is what I wanted them to do because they get hardware. I have two seniors on the team that have been working really hard for me since I got here and I felt they needed something to show for it."
The Buffaloes' relay started with Jeremy Dodson. Pincock and Chris Abuan ran the second and third legs, respectively. Ryan Campbell closed off in typical style, passing Clemson in the last 10 meters for the sixth position. With the finish, Dodson becomes a two-time All-American and Pincock, Abuan and Campbell each earned their first honor.
Colorado finished 37th with eight points in the men's team standings.
