A funeral for Allen Bet Cooksey, 83, a Carson City resident for the past 18 years, will be at 11 a.m. today at FitzHenry's Funeral Home.

Mr. Cooksey died June 8, 2007, in Reno. He was born Oct. 29, 1923, in Haskell, Okla., to Roland and Jennifer Simmons Cooksey.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Antioch, Calif.

He married Jeanette J. Antaillia on Oct. 20, 1946.

He graduated from high school and college.

Mr. Cooksey was a mechanical and environmental engineer.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 1 F&AM. He enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, traveling, country music and playing his harmonica and the organ.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a Lt. Jg. communication officer.

He was preceded in death by sisters Ona, Pauline and Mary and a great-grandson.

Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; sons and daughters-in-law Wayne and Benita of Oakland, Calif., and Mark and Janis of California; son Roy of California; sister Thelma Angelo of Carson City; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild and numerous nephews.

Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
