25 cutthroat trout day from a boat at Pyramid

BLUE LAKES AREA, CALIF: Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930): The mosquitoes are still bad, bring your repellent. Good report for Upper Blue. Limits from shore with nightcrawlers. Nothing big but all in the .75 to 1.5 pound class.

BRIDGEPORT CALIF. AREA: Jim Reid of Ken's Sporting Goods Store (760-932-7707) :

Bridgeport Reservoir: Fishing has been pretty decent. Good reports of boats anchored off Rainbow Point and casting Thomas Buoyant lures. Boats at Buckeye are also doing good with Thomas Buoyant lures. Fly fishermen using Blood Midge Patterns. Power Bait was outfishing nightcrawlers, 3-1.

East Lake: Lots of fish, up to 14 inches. Mosquitoes not that bad.

Poore Lake: Good action with small lures from shore.

Robinson Creek: A report of a 12-pound brown caught Sunday on a spinner, no details.

Roosevelt and Lane Lakes: A report of good fishing at both lakes.

Lower Twin Lake: A report of a 14 pounder but no details.

CARSON RIVERS, CALIF:

East Carson River: Todd Sodaro and Chad Machado of the Carson River Resort (877-694-2229): Everyone still catching fish. David White of Rio Vista caught a 3.3 pound rainbow on a nightcrawler, Devon Rackle of San Jose a 3.5 pounder on a Panther/Martin lure and Gene Ward of Crockett a 4-pounder on red Salmon eggs.

West Carson River: Dave Kirby: Fishing strong for some nice fish. Zac Sayed of Minden caught a 3-pound rainbow on a nightcrawler plus some small trout on Saturday.

CONVICT LAKE, CALIF: Launa Strickland at the Convict Lake Resort (800-992-2260): The biggest rainbows were: 5-pounds, 14-ounces on a nightcrawler from the north shore, 4-pounds, 6-ounces on a mini jig at the inlet and 3-pounds, 11-ounces on a red Power Worm at the inlet. DAVIS LAKE, CALIF: Ed Dillard (Dillard Guided Fishing) (530-832-6394) reported: We caught 4 Friday, 4 Saturday and 4 Sunday. Using Dick Nite Copper Red Head lures, 15 feet down. Still slow.

DAVIS LAKE, CALIF: Don Quilici of Carson City: Lake is getting weedy. Lots of boats and lots of shore fishermen on Saturday morning. Not much catching. A strong wind came up in the late morning.

FEATHER RIVER, CALIF: Kirk Portocarrero of Outdoor Adventures Sport Fishing, Redding, Calif. (800-670-4448): A few salmon being caught. The last few weeks have been tough to get around with jet boats with extremely low water flows. Water is on the rise, should be able to start seeing more salmon being caught over the next few weeks.

HINKSON SLOUGH, NEV (on the Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area): Elmer Bull reported: Getting weedy and lots of mosquitoes. The bass fishing is best late, late in the afternoons. Trout fishing is at a dead halt, right now.

INDIAN CREEK RESERVOIR, CALIF: Dave Kirby: A fly fisherman in a float tube caught and released 14 trout, up to 2.5 pounds, on Woolly Bugger flies.

JUNE LAKE LOOP, CALIF: Steven Osterman: Current flow in Rush Creek is 37 CFS. Try Pheasant Tail Nymphs, flash back Hares Ears and black ants. The section of stream below U.S. 395 to Mono Lake providing some good dry fly opportunities with Royal Wullf's Sierra Brite Dot's and Elk Hair Caddis. Silver Lake have been the best bet for float tubers. Black Mohair Leeches, olive Matukas and Zonkers. Fish along the ledge parallel to the main road on the west side.

KIRMAN (AKA CARMEN) LAKE, CALIF: Jim Reid: Not great but good if you spend a half day fishing.

LAHONTAN RESERVOIR, NEV: Don Hettrick and Don Quilici of Carson City, plus Rich Bachle of Fernley trolled in "The Narrows" last Thursday. They caught and released several hundred small White Bass and one Sacramento Perch. The fish were hitting any lure that looked like a small fish.

MAMMOTH LAKES, CALIF: Steven Osterman: Middle Twin is good with Callibaetis Nymphs, Stevie's Wonder black/silver, Carrie Special's and Doc's Twin Lakes Special.

MASON VALLEY WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA, NEV: Elmer Bull reported: My son, daughter and I fished Bass, Crappie and North Ponds, late last Saturday night. The fishing was pretty good but all of the ponds are now getting weedy. You need to find an open area in the weeds and use a lure like a floating Rapala. Don't forget your repellent because the mosquitoes are really bad.

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Andy at the Gilly Sporting Goods Store in Sparks at 358-6113: Trollers are doing pretty good, with gold/brown Flatfish lures at Warrior Point.

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Chris and Jeri Grellman of Sparks of Hog Charters (358-5199): Jeri reported: Chris, our step-daughter and her husband were out last Saturday. They trolled with Apex lures on the east side of the lake. The three of them caught and released 25 Cutthroat, with only one of the fish under 19 inches.

SACRAMENTO RIVER, CALIF: Dave Jacobs/Hank Mautz (Professional Guide Service) (800-355-3113):

Shad: Fishing has really improved from Red Bluff to Chico with better fishing downstream near Chico. Angler's drifting jigs have scored 30 -40 hook-ups on shad averaging 1-3 pounds. Side drifting small 1/16 to 1/32 ounce jigs with small one inch curly tailed grubs have been best.

SILVER LAKE, CALIF: Dave Kirby: Continues to fish strong. Limits from shore on nightcrawlers.

TOPAZ LAKE: Chuck and Linda Fields at the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550): It was windy over the weekend, but the few fishermen out, were catching fish. Nothing big, as the bigger fish seem to have gone deeper to cooler water. There is hardly any water coming into the lake, right now.

TRUCKEE RIVER, NEV: Andy at The Gilly Sporting Goods Store: The Truckee is fishing good for those fishermen who know how to fly fish.

VIRGINIA LAKES, CALIF: Jim Reid reported fishing is still excellent at both lakes.

WALKER RIVERS, CALIF: Jim Reid reported:

East Walker: Fishing is still awesome. In the last 10 days, there have been at least 5 fish over 27 inches in length. Fly fishermen are using dry flies.

West Walker: Is running about 320 CFS. It is still high but clear. You need to pick your spot.

WALKER RIVERS, CALIF:

East Walker: Steve Osterman reported: The flow is currently 146 CFS. The bump-up in water flow has improved fishing opportunities. Prince Nymphs, WD-40's, flashback Pheasant Tails, sparkle Caddis Pupa, Stimulators and Caddis.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR, NEV: Dennis Dunn, Mark, Rocket and Scott at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472: Fishing is hot! Weather is cool! There are no Mormon Crickets this year!
