Help on the way for Dayton family after house fire

An account has been established for Bruce and Shirley Allen whose Imperial Way home in Dayton, burned June 9.

Allen is known for her animal rescue work and is program manager for Least Resistance Training Concepts, a nonprofit wild horse mentoring program. She also operates Lucky Horse Corral, rescuing wild and domestic horses.

In addition to the account, a benefit for the couple is planned from 2-6 p.m. June 30 at Our Park on Highway 50 just west of S & S Mini Mart, said organizer Dorothy Wingard.

The event will either be a barbecue or spaghetti feed, to be announced and will include a raffle, silent auction and other activities.

Firefighters will attend as honored guests, Wingard said.

"This whole thing has just taken on a life of its own," Wingard said. "The Allen's have helped our community and now it's our turn to help them."

Further, donation cans have been distributed throughout the community. Those donating $3 at Stor-All on Retail Road will receive $5 in free play from The Nevada Nugget Casino.

Sponsors are needed to cover the cost of food and beverages for the event, as well.

Donations can be made to the Allen Fire Rebuild Fund, Account No. 9091959677, at Wells Fargo Bank in the Smith's Shopping Center in person or send checks payable to the account, to Wells Fargo Bank, 6 Pine Cone Road, Ste. 6, Dayton, NV 89403.
