A Virginia City business owner was arrested Wednesday for allegedly taking sexually explicit photos of a girl under 18 years old and possessing marijuana, a Storey County Sheriff's department official said Thursday.

Lewis Raymond Evans, 24, owner of the Boothill Sign Co., 11 N. C St., was booked into the Storey County Jail on suspicion of felony unlawfully exploiting a minor child portrayed in a sexual performance, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Storey Sheriff's Sgt. Ken Quirk, Lewis' arrest came after a two-month investigation in which it was alleged that Evans was "involved in unlawful activities with female juveniles inside the Virginia City business that he owns and operates."

Quirk said evidence recovered from Evans' store during a search in May led to his arrest Wednesday.

A search was also conducted at Evans' Dayton home in which officers allegedly recovered marijuana. That case was forwarded to the Lyon County District Attorney's Office for review.

Anyone who has information on Evans' alleged activities is asked to call the nonemergency dispatch number at 847-0950.

Evans is being held on $200,000 bail.
