Cloyd Cable Ross, 87, a Carson City resident, died June 20, 2007, at Evergreen Convalescent Center in Carson City. He was born Nov. 19, 1919, in Fairfield, Ill., to John and Vera Ross.

He married Barbara Leilani Hampton.

Mr. Ross served in the U.S. Navy from February 1937 to March 1957, retiring in San Diego as chief engineman. He then went to work as a heavy equipment mechanic with the County of San Diego before moving to Carson City.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Among his survivors are his wife of Sparks; daughter Valarie of Grass Valley, Calif., son Steven of Aloha, Ore.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral and burial are pending at El Camino Mortuary Memorial Park in San Diego.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 705 S. Wells Ave., Suite 225, Reno.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
