Learn to use a Web browser at library


Reference librarian Susan Antipa will offer an introduction on using a Web browser at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Carson City Library's Auditorium. The class is recommended for novice Web users; e-mail and chat rooms are not covered. To reserve a seat, call 887-2244.


American Legion to hold St. Patrick's Day dinner Tuesday


The American Legion Post No. 4 and auxiliary will be holding its annual St. Patrick's Day dinner and meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Veteran's Hall at Second and Curry streets. There will be a corned beef and cabbage pot luck meal. Call 265-6982 or 885-9128.


Knights of Columbus to hold St. Patrick's Day dinner Saturday


The Knights of Columbus will hold a St. Patrick's Day dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Gold Dust West Hotel/Casino. A buffet dinner of corned beef and cabbage is $18 per person. A raffle and auction will be held after dinner with dozens of prizes available.


Cocktails are available at 6 p.m., dinner is at 7. Reservations must be made by today. Call 882-6088.


'Birds and the Bees' at Comma Coffee on Tuesday night


The Mile High Jazz Band with vocalist Sheryl Adams and local poets will be holding an evening of jazz and poetry, "the Birds and the Bees," from 8-10 p.m. on Tuesday night at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson St.


Admission is $5 for general admission, $4 for members of the Mile High Jazz Band Association, and free for those aged 18 and under.


Swing dance instructions are available for an additional $5 from 6-7:30. Call 883-4154.

Bedtime stories with Miss Carol in Minden


There will be bedtime stories with Miss Carol at 6:45 p.m. today at the Douglas County Library's Minden branch, 1625 Library Lane. Children may come dressed in pajamas and bring a favorite blanket or stuffed animal. Call 782-9841.


Young at Heart, Senior Services meet


The Board of Trustees for the Young at Heart Senior Citizens Club will meet 9:30 a.m. today at the Douglas County Senior Citizens Center, 2300 Meadow Lane in Gardnerville


The Douglas County Senior Services Advisory Council will meet 8 a.m. Tuesday, also at the Douglas County Senior Citizens Center. This meeting was previously scheduled to take place Monday. The public is welcome to attend. Call 783-6455.

Master Gardener workshop Tuesday


There will be a free Master Gardener workshop entitled "Organic Soils for Healthier Plants" at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Reno. This is part of the "Gardening in Nevada" series of free classes. Call 784-4848.
