Carson City


People to People fundraiser lasagna dinner Wednesday


The Carson City student ambassadors for People to People 2007 are sponsoring a lasagna dinner fundraiser at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Governor's Mansion, 606 Mountain St. Proceeds will financially assist the students with their educational journey to France, Switzerland, Austria and Italy. A no-host bar opens at 6 p.m. with the lasagna dinner starting at 7. A 50/50 raffle will take place at 8:30 p.m. Dinner tickets are available for $10 from any Carson City student ambassador or by contacting John Copoulos at 885-7907.




'Birds and the Bees' at Comma Coffee


The Mile High Jazz Band with vocalist Sheryl Adams and local poets will be holding an evening of jazz and poetry, "the Birds and the Bees," from 8-10 p.m. tonight at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson St. Admission is $5 general, $4 for members of the Mile High Jazz Band Association, and free for those aged 18 and under. St. Patrick's Day dinner and meeting tonight


The American Legion Post No. 4 and auxiliary will hold its annual St. Patrick's Day dinner and meeting at 6 p.m. tonight at the Veteran's Hall at Second and Curry streets. There will be a corned beef and cabbage pot luck. Call 265-6982 or 885-9128.




'Legend of Kate Shelley' program on Wednesday


The Nevada State Railroad Museum will be holding a presentation by Shannan Hodgman on the historical tale of heroine Kate Shelley, of Iowa, at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Call 687-6953 for information.




Learn to use a Web browser at library


Reference librarian Susan Antipa will be offering an introduction on using a Web browser at 7 tonight in the Carson City Library's Auditorium. The class is recommended for novice Web users; e-mail and chat rooms are not covered. To reserve a seat, call 887-2244.
