Carson City man sought in pursuit, assault involving tribal police

A Carson City man allegedly involved in a high-speed chase and assault on Washoe Tribal Police officers is wanted by Douglas County authorities.

According to Sheriff's Sgt. Tom Mezzetta, authorities are looking for Robert "Robby" Hernandez, 20, who is believed to have fled from a vehicle that tribal police attempted to stop on the Stewart Indian Colony in South Carson City early Monday morning.

At about 3 a.m. Monday, officers from the Washoe Tribal Police Department spotted a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer driving erratically. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the vehicle sped off with tribal officers in pursuit, said Mezzetta.

The pursuit continued into the Indian Hills subdivision in Douglas County, where the Chevrolet turned off of Vista Grande Boulevard onto Agate Court, a dead end street.

"The vehicle then spun around and started to go at the officers," said Capt. Mike Biaggini.

It struck one of the patrol cars head-on before "taking another run at one of the officers out on foot," he said.

He said a tribal officer fired three rounds from his sidearm at the suspect vehicle as it exited Agate Court, striking the rear passenger-side window and the back windshield.

The Chevy then drove 75 yards up the road, where two men fled the vehicle.

Officers detained a female found inside.

Biaggini said a handgun was thrown from the truck when it was in the cul-de-sac and officers also recovered a shotgun from the interior.

About 10:15 a.m. officers found Fidel Fuentes, 24, of Carson City, running from a garage on Granite Court. He was captured and booked into the Douglas County Jail on suspicion of obstructing a peace officer and possession of stolen property. Mezzetta said more charges are likely.

Fuentes is on probation with Carson City Alternative Sentencing until November for a charge of disorderly conduct.

As a condition of his probation, he is to abstain from the use of drugs and alcohol and cannot be in possession of a firearm, said Alternative Sentencing Assistant Chief Cate Summers.

Investigators have been unable to locate Hernandez, said Mezzetta.

Hernandez, the stepson of Carson City Mayor Marv Teixeira, is described 5-feet 9-inches tall and weighing 155 pounds. He has short black hair and goes by the nickname "Venom."
