Helen Edna Silk, 79, a 16-year Gardnerville resident, died March 12, 2007, at her home.

Mrs. Silk was born Aug. 20, 1927, in Merced, Calif., to Warren Meracle and Estelle Easterly.

She married George A. Silk on Dec. 26, 1989, in California.

She was a high school and college graduate, and was a secretary for numerous businesses.

She enjoyed playing the organ, crocheting, embroidery, and making lace.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of nearly 40 years, John Joseph Tarro, in 1984 in California.

Among her survivors are her husband of Gardnerville; son James A. Tarro II of Florida; daughter Jeannine Weathers of Carson City; son and daughter-in-law Ken and Julia Silk of Sebastopol, Calif.; brother and sister-in-law John and Margrette Meracle of Irvine, Calif.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Cremation will take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory in Carson City. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Walton's Douglas County Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
