Carson City Health Department's food-service inspections and the date of inspection (all scores are on a 100-point scale, with points deducted depending on the severity of violations):




• Costco produce department, 700 Old Clear Creek Road, scored 100 points.


• Costco bakery department, 700 Old Clear Creek Road, scored 100 points.


• Costco restaurant, 700 Old Clear Creek Road, scored 100 points.


• Smith's produce department, 599 E. William St., scored 100 points.


• Smith's bakery department, 599 E. William St., 95. -5 Readily perishable cold food is held above 46¼ F. The cakes in the center of the cake display cooler are greater than 46¼ F and are not being maintained at 40¼ F or below. The display cooler did not seem to be working correctly. The thermometer in the central section did not seem to be working correctly.


• Port of Subs, 3821 S. Carson St., 99. -1 Cloths used on food-contact surfaces did not contain enough sanitizer residual.


• Burger King #2306, 1250 S. Carson St. 96. -4 Improper procedures were used when washing items/utensils in the three compartment sink.

• Station Grill & Rotisserie, 1105 S. Carson St., 96. -2 Potentially hazardous food being held cold between 41-45¼ F. -2 Items are stored on the floor. Vegetables not correctly stored 6 inches above the floor.


• Jack in the Box #7304, 3665 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.


• Los 4 Vientos, 557 S. Saliman Road, 83. -5 Five gallon detergent containers are used to store rice, beans, salt and other food materials. -1 Food is stored in containers which are inadequately labeled or unlabeled, specifically spices, salt, beans and sugar. -1 An accurate metal stem thermometer is not provided to check food temperatures. -2 Frozen pork product is being thawed in a manner that does not minimize microbial growth, specifically at room temperature in the hot holding area. -2 Food removed from original container is not stored in approved container. Many foods had no covers. The salsa was in an open five gallon container and a styrofoam cup was used for dispensing. -1 Ice scoops not stored properly. -1 Nonfood contact surfaces such as counter top edges and shelf edges that are subject to splash or food depris are uncoated, bare wood and have laminating peeling away. -2 Wash/rinse sanitizing water is at an improper temperature for manual dishwashing. The hot water was not working. -2 There was no certified food handler present at the time of inspection. A study guide was provided to the person in charge.


• Northgate Movies 10, 2571 N. Carson St., 93. -5 Poisonous or toxic materials are not properly stored. -2 Food contact surfaces of equipment or utensils are not clean. Ice bin is unclean and has debris in the back corner.


• Mom & Pop's Diner, 224 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.


• Taco Bell #3, 4050 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.


• Wendy's #4, 4140 S. Carson St., 99. -1 Cloths used on food-contact surfaces did not contain sanitizer residual.


• Carson Station Station Pizzeria, 900 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.


• Silver Oak Golf Club restaurant, 1251 Country Club Dr., 98. -2 Potentially hazardous food was held cold between 41-45¼ F in the walk in cooler.


• Red's Old 395 Grill, 1055 S. Carson St. 96. -2 Frozen poultry was being thawed in a manner that does not minimize microbial growth, specifically in water in the sink without running water. -2 Various foods were stored without lids and in a manner that other foods might contaminate them. Specifically, ice cream was stored in the freezer under pepperoni. Some slices of pepperoni had fallen into the open container of ice cream.


• Fuji Park Exhibit Hall food facility, 3303 Butti Way, scored 100 points.


• Carson City Municipal Golf Course restaurant, 3999 Centennial Park Dr., scored 100 points.


• Carson City Municipal Golf Course bar, 3999 Centennial Park Dr., 96. -4 Chlorine residual of less than 50 ppm is detected on dish ware after mechanical final rinse.


• Holiday Inn Express continental breakfast, 4055 N. Carson ST., 98. -2 Milk in the refrigerator was held cold at 44¼ F. The refrigerator did not appear to be cooling properly.


• Albertsons Food Center #179 meat and seafood department, 4348 S. Carson St., 96. -1 Cloths used on food-contact surfaces did not contain enough sanitizer residual. -2 The hand washing sink in the butcher area was used to store a gallon bucket and the portable sanitizer hose. -1 Wall covering tiles are broken off in some areas exposing bare plaster material.


• Albertsons Food Center #179 deli department, 4348 S. Carson St., 99. -1 Floor junctures are improperly constructed. A raw wood plank is along each wall going to the back food preparation area.


• Hampton Inn & Suites continental breakfast, 10 Hospitality Way, scored 100 points.


• Edith W. Fritsch Elementary School cafeteria, 504 bath St., scored 100 points.


• Empire School cafeteria, 1260 Monte Rosa Dr., scored 100 points.


• Grand Central Pizza & Pasta, 3965 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Bamboo Garden, 3747 S. Carson St., 96. -2 A supply of sanitary towels were not present in the employee restroom. -2 At least one employee of this establishment must be a certified food handler and present during food operations (repeat violation).

• 4 Pints Tavern and Grill bar, 3198 N. Deer Run Road, 98. -2 The hand washing sink at the bar was not working.
