The Better Business Bureau is warning businesses and consumers about a fax from Veck Hanz, the director of Agricultural Operations in the European Union Department of Agriculture. Mr. Hanz states that his office is offering grants ranging from $2 million to $250 million to farmers and ranchers.

This offer is not genuine. The business bureau is aware of at least one person, from California, who fell for the offer and gave the scam artists a bank account number.

The fax states that the United Nations Food Agricultural Organization (FAO) is sponsoring the offer. The business bureau contacted the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (note the fax does not have the correct name) and they confirmed that they are not sponsoring any such offer and that this is a scam.

The business bureau urges anyone who has received this offer to fax it to the business bureau at (775) 322-8163 or e-mail it to: info@renobusinessbureau.org. The Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations is collecting these faxes in an attempt to stop anyone else from being taken.
