A rosary for Edward R. Corda, 87, a 47-year resident of Carson City, will said 6:30 p.m. Monday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley. A funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Mr. Corda died May 17, 2007, at his home. He was born June 29, 1919, in Gilroy, Calif., to Frank and Amelia Vale Corda.

He married Marie Borda on March 18, 1939, in Fallon.

Corda was a graduate of Douglas High School, where he lettered in several sports.

He worked at Standard Oil Co. for 39 years. He and his wife managed the East Fork Bar in Gardnerville, after he retired.

He enjoyed golfing and bowling.

Corda served as a rifle instructor at Camp Roberts, Calif., and was discharged in 1945 as a staff sergeant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and all of his siblings, except one.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Martin and Sandy Corda Arraiz of Carson City; sons Ron Corda of Carson City and Edward P. Corda of Sacramento, Calif.; sister, June Backus of Salinas, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Family requests that memorials be made to the Nevada Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley in charge of arrangements.
