The Carson City Sheriff's Department will be conducting a DUI and seat-belt checkpoint from 3-9 p.m. Saturday at Fairview Drive and Lepire Street.

The checkpoint is designed to help keep intoxicated drivers off the road and encourage seat belt use during the Memorial Day Holiday.

Deputies are also taking part in the nationwide "Click it or Ticket" campaign to encourage seat belt use. Beginning today and running through June 4, additional deputies will be on patrol looking for people not wearing their seat belts.

Those found not wearing seat belts will receive a $67 ticket.

The overtime expenses for the campaign are being paid for by the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety in the Department of Public Safety.
