Betty Joan Ackerson

Betty Joan Ackerson, 89, died May 17, 2007, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center in Ashtabula, Ohio.

She was born April 6, 1918, in Vandergrift, Pa., to Paul and Ruth Linsenbigler Ackerson.

She attended Fenn College in Cleveland, Ohio.

Ms. Ackerson was an active member of the YMCA Book Forum and secretary to the Star Beacon business manager in Ashtabula.

She lived in Denver for 13 years where she was employed as a secretary for the Colorado Department of Education and belonged to local camera clubs.

She moved to Carson City in 1974 and retired from the Nevada State Department of Commerce in 1984.

She enjoyed Russian history, English history, literature, poetry and the arts.

Among her survivors are sister Marylou Sespico of Ashtabula; nephews William Sespico of Ashtabula, Joseph Sespico of Mentor, Ohio; nieces Mary Bamburak of Newbury, Ohio, Ann Sespico of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Kathleen Hamalainen of Ashtabula and many great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life was held.
