Gertrude and Orval were married May 30, 1942 in Boise, Idaho.

They have two children; son, Michael McFadyen of Boise, and daughter, Carol Veatch of Carson City, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Orval is a World War II veteran, saw filer, and former owner of a Shell service station in Oregon prior to retirement. Gertrude was a teletype operator during World War II, and a bookkeeper prior to retirement.
