A service for Cedric Clifford Nelson, 74, a lifelong Carson City resident, will be July 14.

Mr. Nelson died May 19, 2007, in Fallon. He was born Aug. 18, 1932, in Carson City to Cedric George and Clara Jackson Nelson. His grandparents were pioneer residents of the Comstock.

He graduated from Carson High School in 1951.

He married Lois A. Hansen May 20, 1961.

Mr. Nelson worked drilling wells throughout Nevada and California. He also worked for the State Highway Lab Testing Department.

He was a field radio repairman in the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an expert shooter in the Sagebrush League and a life member of the National Rifle Association.

Among his survivors are his sister, Carol Nourse of Hampton, Va.; son and daughter-in-law Steven Cedric and Wendy and their children Mike Brandy and Nicole, all of Fallon; daughters and sons-in-law Stacey Lynn and Randy Selmi and their children Christie and her husband Chad Nibblett, all of Idaho, and Jamie and Cody of Dayton, Sherri Leigh and Warren Johnson and their children Randi, Warren Clayton and William, all of Aiden, Calif., and Shaunna Rea and Jason Hutcheson and their children Jasen and Maycen of Fallon; and many extended-family members.

Smiths Family Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
