The WNCC Wildcats have won their first two games of the Junior College World Series in impressive fashion.
This afternoon, they defeated the top-ranked junior college team in the nation, New Mexico Community College.
They entered the junior college world series as significant underdogs, but have thrived behind masterful pitching and timely hitting. Three teams from the 10-team field have been eliminated.
Appeal sports editor Charles Whisnand is at the game in Grand Junction, Colo., and will provide extensive coverage in Tuesday's paper.
The Wildcats will play their next game on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The Nevada Appeal will once again provide live inning-by-inning updates.
