Carson City


Therapy pool hours expanding at aquatic center


The Carson Aquatic Facility is expanding weekday hours of operation for the therapy pool.


Early morning and midday hours remain the same, but the warm-water pool will now be open earlier in the evening.


The therapy pool will now be open from 4:30-8:15 p.m. weeknights except Wednesday and 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturdays. Call 887-2242.




Flu shot clinic today at Carson Mall


Community Flu Shot Clinic will be 2-6 p.m. today at the Carson Mall, 1122 S. Stewart St. Clinics are open to everyone and no appointments are necessary. The cost for a flu shot is $25. Red Cross seeks help from victims, volunteers


The Northern Nevada chapter of the American Red Cross is looking for former volunteers, board members, staff, and people who were helped by the Red Cross, to develop a more complete picture of the history of the chapter in Reno. The information will be used as part of the 110th anniversary celebration of the Red Cross in Nevada in 2008.


Red Cross is looking for people like Don and Norma Thompson. Norma moved to Reno in 1950 and worked for the Red Cross as the military family liaison. Don was the Red Cross Water Safety Director and a lifeguard at Idlewild Pool. They meet at the Reno Red Cross office in 1952 and will celebrate their 53rd anniversary next year.


Anyone that has worked for or volunteered with the Red Cross, or been a recipient of support, is encouraged to call 856-1000.


Douglas County


Presentation by GOP on caucus


A presentation to educate and inform Douglas Country Republicans about the January 2008 caucus/precinct meetings will be hosted by the Nevada Republican Central Committee staff 6:30 p.m. today at Antioch Coffee Co., 1411 Highway 395 North in Gardnerville. Young at Heart group meets today


The regular monthly meeting of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens Club Board of Trustees will be held 9:30 a.m. today at the Douglas County Senior Center. Call 783-6455.




Library closed for Veterans Day


The Douglas County Public Library in Minden will be closed Nov. 12 for the Veteran's Day holiday. The library will resume its normal schedule Nov. 13. For information, call 782-9841 or visit douglas.lib.nv.us.




Incline Village


New hours for Building and Safety department


Effective today, the Washoe County Incline Village Building and Safety Office will change its office hours to 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Plans may be submitted up to 4:30 p.m. Customers needing a morning appointment can call 832-4140. The department is located at 855 Alder Avenue, Suite 104 in Incline Village.
