Flu season is upon us once again. As the state continues to prepare for the 2007-2008 season, Gov. Jim Gibbons will be receiving his annual flu vaccine at the Southern Hills Hospital this Friday in Las Vegas.

Carson City residents can get their shots today at the Carson Mall until 1 p.m. Clinics offered by Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center are open to everyone and no appointments are necessary. The cost for a flu shot is $25. There is no charge to Medicare Part B patients who bring their card. Call the Flu Shot Hotline 445-5595. The mall is at 1122 S. Stewart St.

Flu shots are recommended for anyone who wants to reduce the chance of getting the flu, and is especially recommended for pregnant women, people 50 years of age and older, and children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years.
