Local Pop Warner teams are winners

The Carson Junior Midgets youth football team defeated the Truckee Wolverines 27-7 Saturday to improve its record to 4-0.

Carson and Truckee's defenses kept each other's offense in check the first two series, until Carson scored and the momentum shifted.

Austin Barraza, Clinton Page, Brock Pradere, Luis Pastrana, Zach Kinder, Brendon Steinmeyer, Michael Bass, Sage Smith, Willy McDonald, Brandon Akers and Marc Tincup led the defense.

On offense the Senators pounded out the yards on the ground and scored four touchdowns. The effort was led by Barraza, Page, Kinder, Smith, Andrew Johnson, Cole Dufresne, Matt Buscay, Gunnar Harper, Austin Brown, Cameron Arnold and Alex Crathers.

Others who played well offensively were Cody Scarlett, Michael Wemheuer, Nick Scott, and Sean Robles for defense and Mikel Hafeman, Nathan White, Joshua Mayers, Cory Wilson and Johnathan Stickroth.

Carson will next face the 3-1 Sparks Steelers at 6 p.m. Friday at Don Mello Sports Complex.

TINY MITE BLUE WINS

The Carson Senators Pop Warner Tiny Mite Blue football team defeated the Truckee Wolverines 24-12, improving its record to 3-1 in one overall.

The Senators started off slow, giving up a touchdown on the Wolverines' opening drive. Quarterback Justin Lopez had no problem leading the Senator offense consisting of Skyler Duncan, Joseph Sproles, Connor McCleary, Dean Poppenga and Gabriel Wagner.

The Senators' first touchdown came on a 20 yard run from Tristan Woslum after he broke away from six Wolverine defensive players. Colton Schafer had an outstanding day, scoring on two touchdown runs, and leading the Senator defense with four tackles.

Dawson Lamb, Phillip Lopez, Carl Cavner, Cody Radtke, Gabriel Tatro, Gavin Bakkedahl, Chase Campagni, Adam Larkin, Braxton Carter, Luis Loe III, and Garrett Tibma all played well defensively. Landon Truesdale also added a 20 yard touchdown run.

The Tiny Mite Blues next play at 6 p.m. Friday at Governor's Field.
