Piano concert tonight at BAC


Western Nevada College music instructor Paul DuFau will be performing a piano concert 6-9 p.m. today at the Brewery Arts Center's Performance Hall. The concert will be free for Carson City Music Club members and $5 for nonmembers.Call 883-1976.




Community HealthCheck Fair offers lab screens


Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare offers affordable lab screenings on the second Tuesday of each month. Doctor's orders are not required. Screenings include: Comprehensive metabolic and lipid panel, prostate specific antigen, complete blood count, thyroid stimulating hormone, and hemoglobin A1c. Appointments are required. Program on breast cancer is Wednesday


Breast Cancer Awareness: Making Informed Choices will be 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, 1535 Medical Parkway. Speakers include: Dr. Gregg McAninch who will talk about Imaging options including breast MRI and Dr. Ruth Adams who will address breast cancer and genetics. Call 445-7508.


'Autumn Jazz' plays at Comma Coffee


The Mile High Jazz Band with vocalist Jackki Ford presents "Autumn Jazz," a program of big-band jazz 8-10 p.m. Tuesday at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson St. General admission is $5 at the door; $4 for members of the Mile High Jazz Band Association and free for those age 18 and under. Dance instruction from 6-7:30 is $5 additional.


The Mile High Jazz Band includes five trumpets, four trombones, five saxophones, keyboard, bass, drums, and vocalist.

Two diabetes programs offered Wednesday


Diabetes Education - Eating for the Holidays will be offered in two locations. From 2:30-4 p.m. Wednesday at the Minden Medical Center, Suite 1105 and at 925 Ironwood Drive, and again from 6-7:30 p.m. at Carson Tahoe Specialty Medical Center, 775 Fleischmann Way. This class is presented by the Nevada Diabetes Association for children and Adults. The program includes information on: Holiday foods Ð planning a party, how to select food when eating out, staying active - easy ways to keep moving during the holiday season, holiday blues, tips, ideas and recipes. The Carson Valley Desert Brushes will meet 6 p.m. Wednesday at a different location.


Painters of all levels, and those who would like to learn to paint, are welcome. We will be working on a special project.
