The Nevada State Railroad Museum will hold a special showing of famous Virginia & Truckee locomotive No. 22, the Inyo, in conjunction with the annual Nevada Railroad History Symposium Thursday through Sunday. This is the only time this year the Inyo will be brought out of the museum building for viewing and photographing.

Visitors will see the Inyo in motion when volunteers operate the locomotive on the museum's tracks from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.

Come watch the operation of the Inyo, rides also will be offered, using Nevada State Railroad Museum locomotive No. 8. Fares for steam-ups are $5 for adults; $4 for seniors 65 up; $3 for children 6 to 11, and children 5 and under ride free.

The 130-year-old Inyo has been working in Nevada since April of 1875. Old No. 22 starred in several movies, including Disney's "The Great Locomotive Chase," and was featured in the Wild, Wild West television series. The ex-V&T locomotive was purchased by the State of Nevada and later returned home to Carson City. After more than a year of restoration work, the Inyo made her museum debut on May 29, 1983.
