Carson girls soccer rolls to easy win vs. Hug

The Carson High girls soccer team warmed up for its showdown at Douglas with a 10-0 win over Hug on Tuesday at home.

Carson (9-2-1 in the Sierra League), playing on its wide home field, used Tuesday's game to prepare for Thursday's game at Douglas, which will be played on the Tigers' narrow field at Keith Roman Complex.

"Actually we've been practicing in tight spaces," Carson coach Randy Roser said. "We're used to playing so tight. We're ready I think.

"We're ready for Douglas. We're prepared. The girls are looking good. They played well."

Brandi Vega scored four goals to lead Carson's attack. Allie Collier struck first in the first four minutes as she scored on an assist from Becca Kane.

Vega then scored on an assist from Helaine Berris and followed that up by scoring off of her own steal. Berris scored, Taylor Musselman scored on an assist from Brenda Luquin, Luquin scored on an assist from Kryssi Kane as Carson built a 7-0 halftime lead.

Vega scored two more goals, Belle Fleming scored and Samantha Fishburn scored to finish the scoring. Goalie Jen Johnson posted the shutout.

DAYTON 7, LOVELOCK 0

Erika Garcia scored the first three goals for Dayton (11-4, 7-2 in the Northern 3A) as the Dust Devils rolled at Lovelock. Garcia scored in the first minute, then scored two minutes later on an assist from Leah Kennedy. She scored again on an assist from Sara Elissa.

Kennedy scored on an assist from Rachel Clark and Elissa scored to give Dayton a 5-0 lead in the first 20 minutes. Natasha Olivera scored on an assist from Garcia and Heydi Funes scored in the second half.

Goalies Stephanie Shoup (eight saves) and Natasha Wells (three saves) combined to post the shutout.
