An appeal by fired Virginia City High School teacher William Beeson will probably be heard by the next scheduled meeting of the Storey County School Board of Trustees on Nov. 15, and could be heard before then.

Beeson, a popular English and Theater Arts teacher, was placed on administrative leave in May after being accused of improper conduct with a student. He was fired in August, but no charges were filed against him. A petition supporting Beeson's return and signed by 113 of 151 students at the high school has been presented to the board.

An appeal of the firing was to have been heard Oct. 25, but was postponed at the request of Beeson's attorneys, who requested more time to prepare.
