Dayton church collecting for Samaritan's Purse


Dayton Valley Community Church has been collecting items for Samaritan's Purse, or Operation Christmas Child.


The time for all participating churches to turn in their boxes is near and Dayton Valley Community Church has set up the following schedule for boxes to be dropped off at the church for collection.


From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday - Wednesday; 1-4 p.m. Thursday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 16-17; 1-4 p.m. Nov. 18; 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 19, which is the final day.


Dayton Valley Community Church is at 5000 Highway 50 E.


For those in the community who have collected items to be sent in the shoeboxes, be sure to include a $7 donation for each box for postage. Checks should be made payable to Samaritan's Purse and note OCC in the memo line.

Christian Science lecture Nov. 17


First Church of Christ Scientist will present a Christian Science lecture at 11 a.m. Nov. 17 at the church, 110 Clear Creek Ave.


The lecture is presented by Martha Moffett of St. Paul, Minn., a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. The public is welcome to attend the lecture and learn life-changing truths based in the Bible and the teachings of Christ Jesus that will bring comfort, hope and healing.

Eckankar hosting 'God is Love' service


The public is invited to learn how to attract more love in their life at a 10 a.m. worship service Nov. 17 at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.


The "God is Love" service is sponsored by Eckankar, religion of the light and sound of During the one-hour service, a skilled facilitator will give a brief talk, with readings, a small-group discussion and a short contemplation.

Greg Strange in concert next week


First Christian Church will present in concert Greg Strange at 6 p.m. Nov. 18 at the church, 2211 Mouton, off Conestoga.


Strange performs "Make a Joyful Noise" with funny songs, Bible stories and his own music ministry.
