Verla Mae Egan, 79, a three-year resident of Gardnerville died Aug. 31, 2007.

She was born April 1, 1928, to Clarence and May Rands in Ririe, Idaho. She was raised on a farm on Butler Island, Idaho. She graduated from Ririe High School.

She married Sid Egan on July 3, 1948. She worked as a waitress and a bookkeeper. She was the first woman supervisor at a manufacturing plant where she worked. Before moving to Gardnerville she lived in Klamath Falls, Ore., Livermore, Calif., and Salem, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years and seven of her eight brothers and sisters.

Among her survivors are her twin sister, Velma; children, Eloise, Eric, Roger and Carey; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at City View Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at City View Funeral Home and Cemetery.

Autumn Funerals and Cremations in Carson City and City View Funeral Home Cemetery in Salem are in charge of arrangements.
