The Western Nevada College baseball team will open its fall scrimmage schedule this weekend, playing top high school senior players from Oregon and Utah.
Western Nevada will play a doubleheader on Saturday at John L. Harvey Field, facing Baseball Oregon at 1 p.m. and top all-stars from the Utah Baseball Academy at 4 p.m. On Sunday, the Wildcats will play another group of all-stars from the Utah Academy at 9:30 a.m. at Ron McNutt Field.
Bighorns to hold golf tournament
The Nevada Bighorns baseball program will hold a fund-raising four-person scramble golf tournament on Saturday, October 13 at Eagle Valley's East Course.
Shotgun start is at 9 a.m. Cost is $80 per person. Same-day registration which begins at 8 a.m. is $90. Hole sponsorships are available for $100.
There will be drawing prizes and prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin contests and first, second and third place prizes for the tournament. Entry fee also covers a barbecue lunch and Mulligans will be available for sale.
