Douglas set to host Fallon

Fallon and Douglas had a similar path to the beginning of the 2007 season.

Each team suffered a loss in the first game but came back to even its record by winning its second game. For Fallon, the Wave snapped a 20-game losing streak to Wooster by edging the Colts, 8-7.

The Tigers, though, won on the road at Manogue, defeating the Miners in Reno, 13-7.

Fallon and the Tigers play each other tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Douglas High School. This is the first time the two tams have faced each other since the Tigers' 15-0 win in 2000.

KVLV Radio (99.3 FM) will broadcast the game with Larry Barker.

"We have to play flawlessly," said Fallon coach Ray Holladay.

He said Douglas impressed him with a road win at Manogue, but Holladay didn't plan anything differently for the Tigers.

"We need to eliminate our mistakes," Holladay added.

Holladay said he was pleased with Fallon's running game against Wooster. Trevor de Braga finished with 95 yards including a 6-yard touchdown run in the second half. His 2-point conversion gave the Wave the one-point win.

Quarterback Dexter Daum had more time to throw, and he found Trent de Braga and Joe Don Baker for big gains.

One of the reason for the improved play came from the offensive line. Holladay said guards Fletcher Bowman and Travis Gibson, center Anthony Tisdale and tackles Robbie Harrison and William Hurlburt all played well.

Daum will not face the same man-to-man coverage he saw against Wooster. Holladay said the Tigers like to run a zone pass defense, something Daum saw against Fernley.

The Tigers' defense, in general, is stingy since Douglas did not allow Manogue to score the final three quarters.

Fallon's defense will be keying on the Tigers' Brock Peterson, who ran 27 times for 152 yards and two touchdowns against Manogue.

Fallon allowed only one touchdown last week, which was set up by a Greenwave fumble on the 1-yard line.

The key defensive gem came on the final play of the game when Fallon's Tyler Reibsamen blocked a potentially game-winning field goal.
