The Carson High boys tennis team continued to roll in the Sierra League with a 17-1 win over North Tahoe on Tuesday.

Among the winners for Carson (5-0, 3-0) were Spencer Brinson (6-2), Ben Henningsen (6-0), Thomas Hollenbeck-Pringle (6-1), Ian Gentner (6-3), Colter Thomas (6-0), Adam Whitt (6-4) and Matt McDaniel (6-4) in singles and Brad Cobler/Jordan Rogers (6-0), James Pelz and Spencer Trapp (6-0), Alex and Tyler Wing (6-0), Tyler Simms and Tyler Smith (6-0) and Kevin Craig and Mike Montiel (6-2) in doubles.

Among the highlights for Carson was a 6-4 win for Gordon Lee over North Tahoe's No. 1 player and a 6-3 victory for Jordan Miller and Tom Dudley over North Tahoe's No. 1 doubles team.

CHS GIRLS LOSE ON

TIEBREAKER

While it's still early in the season, if the Carson High girls tennis team misses the Northern 4A playoffs, it will likely be by four points. Carson and North Tahoe battled to a 9-9 tie in regulation and then battled to a 3-3 tie in the tiebreakers.

But North Tahoe won on the tiebreakers, outscoring the Senators 33-29 in the tiebreakers at the CHS courts. Carson (2-3, 1-2) still has to play Sierra League powers Reno High and South Tahoe, so the fourth and final Sierra League spot into the playoffs could come down to those four points.

North Tahoe won all nine singles matches while the Senators swept all nine doubles contests. Elise Hansen and Hannah Dudley, Hannah Shaw and Alyssa Corda and Jena Greenburgh and Joanna Xie all easily swept through their doubles matches.

The closest Carson came to winning a singles match, which would have given it the win in regulation, was Tiffany Moore, who lost 5-7. Even though she lost in the tiebreaker, Moore was also able to give Carson a valuable four points, losing 4-7. But Carson lost its other two singles tiebreakers 2-7, 1-7.

Hansen and Dudley won their tiebreaker 7-2. The difference came in the other two doubles tiebreakers as Shaw and Corda won 7-4 and Greenburg and Xie won 8-6.

"It was so close," Carson coach Linda Hixenbaugh said. "It was just a great match, very close and fun for everybody."
