A memorial barbecue for Lawrence Rex Caldwell, 60, a 29-year resident of Minden, will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Park in Gardnerville.

Mr. Caldwell died Sept. 2, 2007, at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 15, 1946, to Clive Rex Caldwell and Marion Steele in Portland, Ore.

He married Lynda Ivory on March 14, 1970. Before moving to Minden he lived in Phoenix, Ariz.

He had an associate's degree in electrical engineering and worked as a regional maintenance director for Merrill Gardens and as a custom products engineer for Bently Nevada.

Caldwell was a member of the Carson Valley Sertoma Club and E. Clampus Vitas. He enjoyed spending time with family, being outdoors and riding his motorcycle.

He was preceded in death by brother Dan Caldwell in 1984 in San Diego.

Among his survivors are his wife, of Minden; brothers and sisters-in-law Thomas and Carolyn Caldwell, Richard and Christi Caldwell and Terry and Teresa Caldwell; aunt Barbara Steele and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was buried in American Fork, Utah. Memorial contributions can be made to Disabled American Veterans.

Anyone attending the barbecue is asked to bring a salad, side dish or dessert and their own beverages.
