A memorial service for Maxine Carolyn Thyr, 77, a 10-year resident of Minden, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Carson City.

Mrs. Thyr died Sept. 9, 2007, at her home. She was born April 25, 1930, in Oakland Calif., to Maxmillian and Ottilie Jochner.

She grew up and attended school in Oakland at Zion Lutheran School and Concordia Lutheran School.

Before coming to Minden in 1997, she lived in Oakland.

She married Elmer D. Thyr on June 22, 1952, in Oakland.

Mrs. Thyr worked as the church secretary for Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church, where her husband was pastor for many years.

Mrs. Thyr was a member of Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church. She enjoyed interior decorating and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her sister Barbara.

Among her survivors are her husband of Minden; daughters Lisa J. Hamrick of Stagecoach, Amy J. Thyr of Carson City and Deanna Rae Thyr; brother Robert Jochner of Antioch, Calif.; one grandchild; six nieces and seven nephews.

A private graveside service will be today at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden.

Donations in her name may be made to the Maxine Thyr Memorial Fund at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church or the Sierra Lutheran High School building fund.
