Gutzson Borgium, the artist who chiseled the statue of John W. Mackay for the State University and who was the guest of Sam P. Davis, is to make a statue of Bob Fitzsimmons.

Sheriff W. H. Austin might have had an opportunity to show if he can "lick his weight in wildcats" Ð Mrs. E.E. Hamer was surprised and probably frightened when she went into her garden to pick some flowers and a full grown bobcat jumped out of his hiding place in the back yard. Lew Meder, who was on his way to work at the time saw the beast and is certain it was some kind of wild cat.

Nevada Day, popularly known as "Homecoming Day" in the state, will be true to the title of Mrs. Gabriella Nelson, 96, of Santa Cruz as she accepts a Nevada Day committee invitation to be an honored guest at the statewide celebration. Mrs. Nelson, who writes that she was born in Carson City in 1862 and lived here until she was 9, wrote that she would like to visit the celebration. She is expected to be a guest at the parade and 1864 ball.

A BLM archaeologist is trained to spot dwelling sites, choose Indian artifacts and identify cultural remains, but lately Don Manual has had to be more like a cop spending more time looking for "pot hunters" than projectile points.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency has decided not to extend the phaseout of two-cycle marine engines at Lake Tahoe. Scientist with the U.S. Geological Survey disclosed that a study has found low concentrations of a fuel additive as deep as 100 feet in the lake.
