Robert W. Sanders, 66, a resident of Gardnerville, died Sept. 20, 2007, at Carson Valley Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 25, 1941, to Mabel Payne and Clarence Roy Sanders, in Massachusetts.

Mr. Sanders served in the U.S. Army as a Specialist 5th Class helicopter mechanic in Germany for more than 2 years. He was employed by IBM as an applications programmer from 1964 to 1999.

He moved to Gardnerville after he retired.

He enjoyed woodcrafting and collecting Coca Cola memorabilia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Angela Vosburg Sanders, and brothers Leland and James Sanders, both of California.

Among his survivors are his daughter, Jill Sanders of Kingston, N.Y.; sisters Claire Sears of Florida, Mabel Adams of Texas, Phoebe Ann Glaze and Florence Hightower, both of California, and Jean Sanders of Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
