Edwards Motor Car rides this weekend

The Nevada State Railroad Museum will host a special run of the 1926 Edwards Motor Car 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Fares for Motor Car rides are $4 for adults; $3 for seniors 65 and up; and free for children under 6. For information contact 687-6953.

Gibbons speaking to leadership forum

USDA announces energy grants

Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns announced the availability of $21.9 million to help rural communities cope with extremely high energy costs. Communities have until Monday to apply for grants under this program.

Funds may be used to acquire, construct, extend, upgrade or otherwise improve energy generation, transmission or distribution facilities serving communities in which the average residential cost for home energy exceeds 275 percent of the national average. Applications for grants must be postmarked by Monday. Call 887-1222.

Social Distortion at Sparks Nugget

A cornerstone in the bedrock of the late 1970s SoCal/Orange County punk music scene, Social Distortion has become a solid, unbreakable pillar of punk rock history. Catch Social Distortion in a general admission-only show Oct. 7 in the Rose Ballroom at John Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks.

Social Distortion has released six full-length studio albums, two compilations, one live album and two DVDs.

April Verch Band to play in Fallon

The Churchill Arts Council will present critically acclaimed April Verch Band at the Oats Park Art Center, 151 E. Park St., Fallon at 8 p.m. Saturday. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and there will be a no-host bar.
