Virginia City softball splits vs. Coleville

The Virginia City High softball team gained a split of its doubleheader at home on Friday against Coleville to pick up its first Western 1A win of the season.

After losing the opener 9-5, the Muckers (1-3 in Western 1A) scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for a come-from-behind 11-9 win in the nightcap.

Down 9-7 in the sixth, Shaye Segale hit a two-run triple to give Virginia City a 10-9 lead. Winning pitcher Brooke Bonnett got a strikeout for the final out with runners at second and third to preserve the win.

Segale was 2-for-4 with three RBI, Sophie Glogovac was 3-for-4 with three RBI, Megan Culleton was 2-for-4, Kelly Smiley and Bonnett each had a hit and an RBI, Alexa Ballinger was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Amanda Bohl was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In the opener, Culleton, Smiley, Denali Fickus and Katie Defebaugh all had one hit, Segale hit a solo home run and Glogovac, Bonnett and Jessie Bailey all added two hits and an RBI.

Carson JV baseball rolls against Hug

Clay Holton struck out six and allowed two hits over four scoreless innings to pick up the win. as the Carson junio varsity baseball team beat Hug 17-0 on Thursday. Shea Bondi struck out two over one inning in the game that was called after five innings.

Bryce Altus was 3-for-4, James Lewandowski went 2-for-3 and David Feltner, Shea Bondi, Adam Whitt, Cameron Mayville, Lucas Tucker, John Tucker and Curtis Devore all added a hit.
