'Defending the Caveman' returns

The Brewery Arts Center returns "Defending the Cavemen" in the Performance Hall on May 2 -3. The show has been a sellout in past appearances.

The performances are May 2 at 7:30 p.m. and May 3 at 5 and 8 p.m.

Cow plop fundraiser hitting Fremont

Fremont Elementary School hosts its annual Cow Plop Fundraiser supporting students and teachers from 9 a.m.-noon, Friday at 1511 Firebox Road.

Purchase a square for only $5. If the cow "plops" on your square you could win a $750 Visa Gift Certificate. A random drawing will provide a $250 Visa gift card to a winner.

Screenwriter contest begins

The 21st year of the Nevada Film Office's Screenwriting Competition will be auspicious because of advantageous changes made to the scoring, judging and compensation elements of the contest, officials report.

The submission period for this international competition is May 1-Aug. 1. Only unsold standard industry format feature length scripts will be accepted.

The content must not be pornographic and 75 percent of locations in the script must be filmable in Nevada. Writers may enter multiple scripts with an entry fee of $15 for residents and $30 for nonresidents.

The winners received a script consultation with author and screenwriter Dan Decker. Once the writers revise their scripts, the Nevada Film Office will send copies to production companies and actors' agents.

Brüka to stage 'Two Small Bodies'

Brüka Theatre presents "Two Small Bodies" by Neal Bell. The story revolves around two missing children and the investigation into their disappearance that becomes a cat-and-mouse game between their potentially neglectful mother and the cynical and suspicious detective in charge of the case.

"Two Small Bodies" plays April 24, 25, and 26 at 8 p.m. in sub-Brüka. Doors open a half hour before curtain time. All tickets are $20 in advance. $25 at the door. For mature audiences only.
