Nevada baseball dropped by Fresno State

FRESNO STATE 9, NEVADA 3

The Wolf Pack baseball team gave up six runs to the first-place Bulldogs in the first inning at Peccole Park and was unable to rally as it fell to 9-8 in the WAC and 22-18 overall.

Fresno State improved to 14-3, 26-17, after taking the first game of its four-game series with Nevada.

The Bulldogs sent 10 batters to the plate in the opening frame to grab the initiative.

Wolf Pack third baseman Jason Rodriguez hit his team-leading eighth home run in the bottom of the first, bringing in center fielder Jason Sadoian, to make it 6-2.

With Fresno State up 7-2, Dayton High School graduate Matt Bowman doubled and later came in on a Rodriguez single.

Fresno State, will meet Nevada in a doubleheader today, beginning at 1 p.m.

Both games will be televised nationally on the CBS College Sports Network.
