Afternoon thunderstorms a possibility

Today's weather calls for scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon with highs 84-94 and light winds becoming southwest up to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight, partly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms with lows 58-68 and west winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph in the evening.

Thursday, partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning, the mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon with highs 85-95 and south winds around 10 mph.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays, mainly Fairview Drive between Roop Street and South Lompa Lane, primarily between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., and Highway 50 East between Airport Road and Saliman Road.

Resurfacing continues on Highway 50; traffic controls are in effect during all hours of the day with lane variations.

The closure of westbound Fairview Drive from Saliman Road to Roop Street is in effect through Aug. 31. Alternate routes of travel are Colorado Street to the south, and Little Lane to the north.

Traffic will be controlled at times; alternate routes are advised.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 7:20 a.m. all roads open with no controls.
