Georgette Stormo, of Stormo Investments, announced that they have broken ground on their 26-acre site in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.
The property is on the corner of Denmark Drive and USA Parkway, the main road through the industrial complex.
The plan is to create 15 different lots on the property including three large parcels on USA Parkway. The 26-acre complex is being called the Denmark Business Park.
Nominations are now being accepted for the 24th Annual Governor's Industry Appreciation Awards. The awards recognize new businesses that have moved to Northern Nevada and existing companies experiencing substantial growth during the past year. The deadline for nominations for the "Distinguished Business of the Year" and "Honoree" awards has been extended to Friday. Nomination forms and award criteria are available at www.giaa2008.com.
The 2008 Governor's Industry Appreciation Awards will be held Thursday, Nov. 6 from 5:30-9 p.m. at John Ascuaga's Nugget.
Out of hundreds of submissions in a coin giveaway contest aimed at youth in Northern Nevada, 8-year-old Garrett Allen's entry was drawn at Southgate Coins in Reno last week.
The prize was an 1808 Capped Bust half dollar valued at about $150.
The Tahoe Reno Industrial Center's first mini mart and service station is now open on USA Parkway, the main road through the industrial complex, just a short distance from the I-80 interchange.
Golden Gate Petroleum has opened a much-needed convenience store and service station that will soon feature Port Of Subs sandwiches and a small casino with 15 slot machines.
The service station has 12 pumps, six for regular gasoline and six for diesel fuel.
