Neil Weaver said today in a message to the Nevada Appeal that he will resign from the Airport Authority tomorrow. His wife, Yvon Weaver, quit as manager of the Carson City Airport on Aug. 14.

He is a pilot and owns Weaver Aircraft, which is based on the Carson City Airport.

Yvon Weaver quit after a phone call with authority member and city supervisor Richard Staub who talked to her about the possibility of making the manager a full-time salaried position and opening it to interviews. Weaver and Staub disagree on the tone of the conversation.

Neil Weaver has been on the Airport Authority since the mid-1990s and has served as chairman. He has ran unsuccessfully for Carson City mayor in 2000 and Ward 3 supervisor in 1998, 2002 and 2006.

The Carson City Airport Authority has owned and operated the airport since 1989. Members are appointed by the city board of supervisors.
