If entertaining western style is your forté, then mosey on down to the Carson City Senior Citizens Center at 5:30 p.m. today and audition for the 2008 Senior Follies.
"The Wild Wild West" is this year's theme and director Norma Conway is looking for that special woman to be her Annie Oakley.
"I need a gun-toting, rootin' tootin', boot scootin' cowgirl, who is rough and tough, can dance and carry a tune as well as a gun," she said.
Conway said the production is based on the "Wild West Show" Oakley starred in as a young girl. Oakley, who was touted as possibly the greatest marksman with a rifle or six-shooter, and at the age of 12 could shoot the head off a running quail.
"Everyone who auditions will be used in some capacity," she said.
Those who can't make today's auditions can try out on Jan. 16.
The Follies is a fundraiser for Meals on Wheels and other senior programs at the center, said Janice McIntosh, center director.
"A lot of the music will hinge on what people come to me with (during auditions)," Conway said. "We will do 'I've got spurs, that jingle, jangle, jingle,' perform some gospel music, the 'Tennessee Waltz,' and I've been listening to music by Roy Rogers and Dale Evans and Gene Autry."
Conway worked for several years with the Nutcracker production, with Proscenium Players, taught jazzercise and aerobics at the Carson City Community Center, as well as directing the Miss Carson City Pageant.
Conway and Jan Hunt co-directed the 2006 Senior Follies.
Helping them will be Rich Arrigotti, who is doing the sound, June McIntyre and Carla Wilson. Tom Strekal will be the emcee and his wife, Liz, the stage manager."
Conway said Craig Swope is helping her write some of the pieces, which includes more comedy than past productions. She encourages anyone age 50 and older to audition for the show.
