On behalf of the Douglas County Democratic Central Committee, I would like to thank everyone who came out to support our annual "Turn Nevada Blue" dinner recently at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden.

Special thanks to Nevada State Party Chair, Jill Derby, who served as our emcee and, with State Archivist Guy Rocha, did a touching tribute to the late Sallie Springmeyer. Cory Farley, former columnist with the Reno Gazette-Journal, was outstanding as our keynote speaker.

We also heard remarks from Gen. Paul Eaton (ret.) who spoke for the Hillary Clinton campaign, former Congressman David Bonier (D-Mich.) who is the national director of the Edwards for President campaign, Steve Platt, chair of the Carson City Democratic Central Committee, who spoke as a representative of the Barack Obama campaign and Douglas High student Jesus Palma who spoke for Dennis Kucinich.

We especially want to commend the DCDCC Fundraising Committee chaired by Bud Orange: Marie Lekumberry, Jo Ann Orange, Jo Sprinkle, Ruth Strand, Beth Swanberg and Chuck Vickrey. They did a terrific job.

Acknowledgment and thanks to the following for their donations: Carson Valley Inn, Douglas County Democratic Women, Casino Fandango, Cindy Farmer, Gottshalks, Greta Hambsch, J.T. Basque Restaurant and Bar, Laborer's International Union Local 872 and Cynthia Trigg.

Gim Hollister, chairman

Douglas County Democratic Central Committee
