A fire ripped through a house in northeast Carson City this morning, killing at least one person.

Firefighters were called out around 6 a.m. to 2305 Star Way.

Carson City Fire Chief Stacy Giomi said the department is investigating the cause of the fire.

Tires along the side of the house did help spread the fire, he said.

Star Way resident Diane Imorde said she didn't know her neighbor's house was on fire until her house was lit up by yellow lights.

"When I looked out, I saw about eight fire trucks and flames about 10 feet high," she said. "It was serious. There were police all over.

"I didn't know until after I left (for work) that anyone had died."
