A pedestrian struck by a car on Highway 50 East in Silver Springs succumbed to his injuries at a Reno hospital.

Trooper Scott Simon said the unnamed 23-year-old man was conscious and talking at the scene of the 6:54 p.m. accident Thursday.

"For an unknown reason, the pedestrian, a 23 year old male, entered the US 50 westbound travel lane, and was struck," said Simon.

He was transported to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical, then later taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno where he died from internal injuries.
