McIntosh named to all-academic team

Douglas High graduate Andy McIntosh has been named to the all-Western Athletic Conference academic team for the fall semester for the University of Nevada football team.

McIntosh, a redshirt junior and academic senior, was honored after meeting the WAC's criteria to be named to the team. Student-athletes who maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of their teams' contests are eligible to be honored.

Knights of Columbus winners named

Five local winners were crowned in the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship held on Saturday at Carson Middle School.

Garrett Schafer won in 11-year-old boys, Rachel Miles won in 11-year-old girls, Alan Cohen won in 12-year-old boys, Ali Zunino won in 13-year-old girls and Matt Nolan won in 13-year-old boys. They advance to the next level to be held on February 23 at Dayton Intermediate School.

Lyon County wrestling event slated

The Lyon County Wrestling Tournament will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at Dayton Intermediate School. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for students.
