John Warren Manke, 66, passed away peacefully July 9, 2008, in Auburn, Calif. John was born November 22, 1941 to Alice Keener Manke and Oliver Curtz.

John attended elementary and high school in Douglas County. He was an accomplished athlete. From 1961-63 he ran track at University of Nevada Reno. He drove long haul across the country for many years, finally settling in Auburn, Calif. His unique humor and wit will be missed by many.

John was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather Henry Manke and brother Donald Curtz.

John is survived by his beloved Sue Turner of Auburn, Calif.; brothers Vern (Carol) Manke of Carson City, Dwight Curtz of California and children, Ken (Ashly) Manke of Reno, Tammy (Tim) Perko of Minden, Jacque (Roy) Foster of Reno, Bill (Melissa) Manke of Carson City, 19 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1095 Spruce Street, Minden. In lieu of flowers donations to the International

Myeloma Foundation 1-800-452-2873 in his name are requested.
