Carson City Library and Kiwanis Join Forces for a great cause. With school out, don't forget to join the Carson City Library summer program, "Catch the Reading Bug!" and discover the amazing world of insects.

The 2008 Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through young adult, with programs, prize drawings, story hours, a reading club, and more.

Get your children into this great educational program and support the Carson City Kiwanis at the pancake breakfast bring the entire family and have a fun time.

KIWANIS ANNUAL BREAKFAST FOR BOOKS

What: Pancakes, sausage, eggs, juice and coffee served hot by Kiwanis of Carson City. Entertainment for children will include a performance by "Positive Karate," a local martial arts studio, and face painting

Show your support for all the women and children that suffer from the most silent crime, domestic abuse.

Advocates to End Domestic is the only place in town that will assist a mother with her children who has been abused and has no where to turn. The "Taste of Downtown" is a fun night out and it helps an outstanding cause. Lisa, Jackie, Tracy and every member at Advocates work endless hours trying to make a difference 365 days a year. Our support is most needed on this one day, so please come down and support these women in such a worthy event.

Get the clubs out and hit the golf course with the Carson Sertoma. Not only can you enjoy a great game of golf, you can try to beat the pro - if you are good enough.

Competitions include longest drive and closest to the pin and, of course, if you get the hole in one you can drive home in a new car.

Golf, competition, prizes and barbeque, what else is there.

CARSON CITY SERTOMA ANNUAL CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

What: Beat-the-pro contest, hole-in-one wins car, long drive, closest to pin, many raffle prizes.

Where: Eagle Valley Golf Course (East Course)

When: June 22, 8:30 a.m. shotgun start

Cost: $85 includes golf, cart, barbecue, tee prizes, team prizes
