Douglas High graduate Shawn Estes took the loss, but he had a more effective outing in his latest appearance for the San Diego Padres in spring training on Monday.
The 1991 Douglas graduate allowed four runs, but just one earned, on three hits over 2.2 innings in a 5-2 loss to the Texas Rangers. Estes is trying to make the Padres opening day roster as a fifth starter.
