The city's bus service, Jump Around Carson (JAC), will offer free rides on St. Patrick's Day from 6:30 p.m. until midnight.
People should call 841-RIDE if they need a ride.
Reno's bus service has done the same thing to help cut down on the number of drunken drivers, said Patrick Pittenger, city transportation director, and it could also work for Carson City.
More people are also riding the buses in general, he said, with the February ridership setting a record with 9,400 riders.
